Sansia - Temple Town

Print

June 2007

We stopped here after coming from Yingge to see the Tsushih Temple, to get an idea of what Chinese Buddhist architecture was like compared to some of the other countries I had seen. We found that this temple was highly detailed, to the point of being viewed as tacky by Koreans or Japanese, but I found the attention to detail a nice change.

Yingge - Ceramics Village

Print

June 2007

We stopped here as a part of a day trip out of Taipei. It was mostly a village for pottery but the local artistic community made a large variety of products, including the statue seen below.I bought a few tea sets from here, ceramic inlaid with gold flecks which was the local signature item.
